Fernando Cornejo Würfl is an Ecuadorian photographer and videographer who has been working for more than fifteen years to create a connection between people and nature through his photography. He lives between Ecuador and Chile, and his training as a professional diver has allowed him to portray the biodiversity of the underwater world in a close and authentic way.

An engineer by profession, but a nature lover and photography enthusiast from a very young age, Cornejo Würfl chose to become a photographer based on his experience as a diving instructor in the mythical Galapagos Islands. Having the opportunity to appreciate the underwater world so closely transformed him forever, and from that experience, he decided that his photography would be a tool to share the natural world around him.

Since then, he has worked as a photographer for several environmental conservation and scientific divulgation NGOs. He created the underwater and aerial production company Urakayu, which has worked with Pacific Whale Foundation, Plastic Oceans and others. With camera in hand, he has traveled the Galapagos Islands, the highlands, coast and eastern regions of Ecuador, and several areas of the South Pacific, including Polynesia, Australia and
New Zealand.

Moved by the urgency of environmental conservation, he has created and participated in various photographic exhibitions such as: 'Seres, colors and textures under fragile water', 'A Cielo Abierto', 'Exposicion fija Yaku'.  In 2011 he organized his third exhibition of underwater photography entitled 'Ecuador under water', which was exhibited in Germany, Chile and Ecuador. His photographs have been published in print and digital media.

Fernando Cornejo Würfl currently continues to portray the wild and underwater natural world, supporting with his gaze and photographic style different projects of environmental education and scientific dissemination. He also continues in constant exploration of technique, art and sensory experiences. He is a diving instructor and offers courses, among which underwater photography stands out. He dreams of continuing to make his images a connecting tool that changes people's perception of nature and calls for action to protect it.
